Driver smashes motor into pensioner’s living room after ‘accidentally pressing accelerate’ while parking
A PENSIONER’S home has been smashed through by a driver whose motor ended up in the elderly woman’s front room.
The terrifying incident took place on Twickenham Green, last Wednesday at 6pm.
The shocking set of images show a car wedged inside a pensioner’s home after completely taking out the windows and becoming lodged in place.
The dangerous crash reportedly happened when the driver was trying to park and accidentally pressed down on the accelerator – revving the motor straight into the house.
Neighbours said the pensioner living inside was in another room when it happened so was unharmed and the driver was also left injury-free, reports the Daily Mail.
Emergency services were called immediately, and in the images firefighters can be seen attending the scene.
One man, who did not want to be named, said: “I heard she was trying to park.
“But she’s elderly, so maybe she pressed the wrong button by mistake.
“Thankfully no one was hurt.”
Another neighbour believed to have been there at the time said that she “suddenly” heard sirens and saw flashing lights, before going outside to see a car had smashed “right through into the house”.
One week on and the motor remains in place, but the area is cordoned off and debri littering the floor surrounding the woman’s home.
Images of the scene were shared by popular UK broadcaster Jeremy Vine, who posted them on X, formerly Twitter.
His post read: “This happened a few miles from my house last week and it’s not even been on the local news.”
When locals did hear about the crash, they jumped on social media to share their thoughts.
One user said: “It happened last week at the other end of the road, nobody hurt but quite a bit of damage.”
A second user said: “How awful, glad to hear nobody in the house was hurt.”
A third user was so taken aback by the images they questioned whether it was real, or AI generated.
They said: “Can’t even imagine how they were driving, unless this is related to April fools day and pics are AI created.”
This comes after shocking pictures showed a car dangling 10feet from a homeowner’s roof after two teens lost control at the wheel and catapulted into the air.
The boys were driving home from a graduation party when they lost control of the vehicle, which ramped off the road, careered down a hill, and crash-landed – feet away from a sleeping couple.
Luckily both boys and the sleeping couple were left unscathed.
A spokesperson for the London Metropolitan police, said: “Police were called to Twickenham Green at about 18:03hrs on 27 March following reports that a car had collided with a house.
“Officers attended. No one was injured.”
