I forked out over £300 for a designer corset top… trolls say it looks like an ‘armour’ but I’ll wear it to the shops
A FASHIONISTA whose brand new designer corset has been compared to an ”armour” has revealed she’ll sport it when doing her grocery shopping.
Emma Zhuang, from the USA, took to Instagram to proudly show off the golden corset, which retails for more than £300 on second-hand sites like eBay.
However, it wasn’t just any other corset that’s made from regular fabric – the wardrobe essential, she revealed in a video posted on her platform, had been designed with resin.
The material, which has a more plastic feel, is typically used for DIY projects around the house, such as an adhesives, coatings or as a construction material when a strong bond is required.
However, forward-thinking style lovers have also managed to find ways to incorporate this material in the fashion industry, whether that’s resin jewellery – or clothing pieces.
The garments will typically have a more sturdy appearance and look to them, as they won’t fold or flow.
The golden corset, which Emma had ordered online from Yu Ding who specialises in resin wear, featured a flattering neckline, as well as a few gold elements attached to it.
Meanwhile, the few ‘creases’ gave the item a more realistic feel, despite it being ”structural”.
Although the same designer also offers more mermaid-inspired tops, the Aussie fashionista said the simple garment was more her style.
In the video, Emma decided to pair it with a basic black maxi skirt, gold statement earrings, black pumps, as well as a chic clutch with pearl detailing.
”Just your average grocery store fit?” the style enthusiast wrote in the caption.
But although Emma might’ve been all chuffed with her purchase, which complimented her body, not everyone would be racing to order a copy.
Hundreds flocked to comments to share their thoughts on the garment, which, in their eyes, looked ”uncomfortable”.
”That’s not a corset, that’s called armor,” one reckoned.
Someone else chimed in: ”It looks rock solid HAHAHAHA but it looks pretty on you.”
Another agreed, adding: ”For me, it looks uncomfortable, even if it’s pretty.”
Fashionistas have also been loving these high street buys
With summer right around the corner, it’s time to give our wardrobes a revamp.
And if you’re looking to do so on a budget, here are our favourite recent finds we can’t get enough:
- A ‘very flattering and slimming’ spring dress that’s ideal if you don’t love your arms,
- A New Look midi skirt people are buying in different colours,
- M&S trousers that are great for travelling,
- A M&S T-shirt shoppers say is ‘better’ than SKIMS
- Primark £15 dupes of posh £850 flats.
A fourth wondered: ”For $360 is it worth wearing ? Can it be worn out for hours ? Or is this a Photoshoot top kinda thing one and done?”
Luckily for the young fashion fanatic, who posts under the username @imemma.z, there were also plenty of those obsessed with the unique piece as much as she was.
One fellow fan thought: ”This corset is sooo sick.”
Another echoed the sentiment, writing: ”Wow, so amazing and totally made for you!”
‘I need this in my life,” a style lover couldn’t wait to get their hands on the resin item.
