Huge ‘globster’ sea creature washes up in Malaysia

A weird mass of organic flesh has washed ashore on a beach, drawing crowds curious about its origins.

It is believed to be the remains of a whale, but as it’s so far unidentified it is known as a ‘globster’.

This sounds a bit like a name kids call each other on the playground, but it is actually a term for a mysterious organic mass that washes up from the sea.

Also known as a ‘blob’, the masses are often eventually found to be carcasses of whales or sharks, but some have turned out to be huge octopuses.

And there’s always the possibility that a previously unknown sea monster might wash up (keep checking those shores of Loch Ness).

This particular globster was found on Telok Melano Beach in Malaysia.

The Sarawak Civil Defense Force shared photos of the discovery on Facebook, including a video showing people approaching the blob in the surf as waves washed over it on April 5.

Similar sightings have gripped people in the past, such as a large blob in the Philippines.

Local resident Tim Maling said of the incident in 2018: ‘An earthquake is heading for Oriental Mindoro. The big globster is a sign of something bad coming. Please pray for us.’
