Wanted man runs from police, overdoses in Depoe Bay hotel parking lot
PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- A Keizer man was arrested after authorities said he evaded police along the Oregon Coast, before overdosing in a hotel parking lot.
According to the Newport police, at around 9:40 p.m. on Monday, officers spotted a gray SUV on Highway 101 that radar showed was traveling 70 miles per hour in a 45mph zone.
Officers said they attempted to stop the driver but they continued to speed away, passing other cars using the left turn lane.
Assisted by the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office and Oregon State Police, officers chased the SUV on Highway 101 toward Depoe Bay. Eventually, officers said that the suspect pulled into the WorldMark resort and ran away.
After a short chase, officers said they captured Lee Tiger, 35, of Keizer.
Authorities said that during his arrest, Tiger admitted to taking a large amount of fentanyl and began overdosing. Officers administered Narcan and Tiger was taken to a hospital.
During the investigation, authorities said that they learned the SUV was stolen out of Washington and that Tiger had multiple warrants out for his arrest.
In addition to the existing warrants, Tiger was booked on new charges including felony eluding, reckless driving, reckless endangering, unauthorized use of a vehicle, possession of a stolen vehicle, and failure to report as a sex offender.
