Bakery opening in former Sky Port Diner space in Glenville
GLENVILLE, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Scotia Sweets, an at-home bakery that started during the COVID-19 pandemic, is opening up a storefront in Glenville. The bakery will be located at 35 Freemans Bridge Road, in the former Sky Port Diner space.
Owner Leigh Baker has been selling her cookies, brownies, edible cookie dough, blondies, bars, and protein desserts at other businesses in the Scotia area. Now, she'll be able to bake and sell her products from a central location.
Baker is planning to not only have a walk-in bakery but have a drive-thru as well. She originally wanted only a drive-thru bakery with no walk-in option, but then found this space for both.
"It was important to me that I stay close to Scotia, be super visible, and have zoning for what I want to do, a drive-thru bakery," said Baker. "With this space, I’ll be able to have both: a really cute inside space for customers to sit down and stay a while along with a drive-thru for people on the go."
Sky Port Diner permanently closed its doors on December 31 after over 60 years. At that time, a Sky Port employee confirmed to NEWS10 that the building had been sold.
Baker is planning on pausing any custom or catering orders when the storefront gets up and running. She'll also pause offering her treats at other businesses in the area. Baker is hoping to open the Scotia Sweets storefront in October.
