Ahhhhhh.....Seeya! McCain And Filipowski Declare For the NBA Draft
Good luck to them both!
It’s NBA Friday around Cameron as both Jared McCain and Kyle Filipowski have declared for the NBA Draft.
Neither is a surprise. Both are seen as first-round picks but neither is a slam dunk.
Filipowski is a solid rebounder and shooter and the spacing in the NBA will be really helpful to him. He has one of the best spin moves we’ve ever seen. But his athleticism is limited. He’s very tough though so we’re sure he’ll find a role in the league and be a valuable asset to whatever team that drafts him.
McCain is a trickier sell. His shot and his basketball IQ are off the charts but at 6-3, he’s not a natural point guard and that means he’ll be guarding guys who are 3-6 inches taller than he is, and that’s going to be a problem.
But he has a beautiful shot and he’s really, really smart. He also has an incandescent personality that will be a major asset to his team.
Both are projected to be taken either from just outside the lottery to the middle of the first round but a lot can and will change as more players enter the draft and are measured and assessed.
Whatever happens, we’re very happy for both of them that their dreams have come true and we wish them every success. And we’ll miss them.
