Golden State basketball is on the way! Come join our game thread and chat about tonight’s matchup here.

The Golden State Warriors finish off their final back-to-back of the season with tonight’s home matchup against the New Orleans Pelicans. The game will be played at 7:00PM PT in San Francisco and can be watched on NBC Sports Bay Area.

Previously with the Warriors:

The Warriors won an ugly 100-92 road matchup against the Portland Trail Blazers on Thursday night. After deciding to rest starters Draymond Green and Klay Thompson for the front end of their final back-to-back of the season, Golden State managed to claw their way to their third straight victory.

Golden State began the game with multiple turnovers and missed shots, giving the Blazers the early lead. Although the Warriors eventually found their rhythm, the game remained close with Portland competing hard throughout the night. It wasn’t until the fourth quarter as Golden State, down by six points, went on a 16-1 run that pushed the game out of reach. Steph Curry scored a team-high 22 points, including a stretch where he scored or assisted on 15 points in the quarter. Meanwhile, Kevon Looney played his best game of the season as he anchored several big possessions to help seal the victory for the Warriors.

What to watch for tonight:

Thursday night couldn’t have gone better for Golden State with regards to the Western Conference standings. The Warriors winning, along with the Sacramento Kings losing to the Pelicans, gives them a realistic opportunity at becoming the eighth seed. To do so, however, they would need to win their final two games while hoping that the Kings drop at least one of their own remaining two games.

Meanwhile, New Orleans enters tonight’s matchup on a three-game winning streak of their own and will be plenty motivated to keep winning in order to keep the Phoenix Suns from catching them for the sixth seed in the West. In addition to their motivation, the Pelicans are one of the better road teams in the league with a record of 27-14 – tying the Boston Celtics for second most road wins this season.

The Warriors will have to take care of their own business first before rooting for others to help them. With a rested Green and Thompson, expect the team to come out with a playoff-like intensity as they fight for two chances to officially make the postseason in the upcoming Play-In Tournament.

It should be a fun game. Enjoy the basketball Dub Nation. GO WARRIORS!!!
