Ex-Camas High School wrestling coach sentenced for child molestation

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- A former Camas High School wrestling coach was sentenced to 20 months in prison for child molestation.

Mark Yamashita, 50, was sentenced for the sexual molestation of a 15-year-old girl on the wrestling team, with the victim and witness statements describing multiple instances.

According to the court documents, Yamashita would punish the girl by forcing her to take her clothes off, get in bed with him, or with unwanted touching.

During one instance on a wrestling meet trip, the documents said that Yamashita physically held the girl down in a hotel room while molesting her.

Another one of the incidents occurred at Yamashita's home where the documents said he forced the girl to get naked before touching her "as a punishment and to embarrass her."

Yamashita was sentenced on April 9 to 20 months for two counts of third-degree child molestation.
