Albany Police arrest 16-year-old on weapon charges
ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- The Albany Police Department arrested a 16-year-old on Friday following an incident near Elizabeth Street and Second Avenue. The teen, whose name will not be released due to his age, was charged with second-degree criminal possession of a weapon and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon.
Police say they tried to stop a group of people at around 11:30 p.m. on Friday at a bus stop near Clare Avenue after receiving reports of a person with a weapon when the teen fled on foot. He was allegedly in possession of a loaded handgun.
The teen was arraigned and placed in the custody of the Capital District Juvenile Secure Detention Facility. He will appear in Albany County Family Court at a later date.
