GETTING the perfect false lash look isn’t for the faint of heart.

With enough patience and practice, however, one makeup lover has mastered the eye-popping look she was hoping to achieve.

Now, Reddit user (@melbreezy) is sharing her wisdom on how to get the same wow look.

“I used to find it impossible and I followed all the steps below and now it’s no problem,” she said.

She explained how she pieced her “method together” from various YouTube tutorials, plus additional online tips and by trying things for herself.

Her six-step process included using lashes with a rounded shape, or those that could at least be molded into a curved shape to fit your eye.

She wasn’t a fan of “really cheap lashes” such as those from makeup brand Elf, as they didn’t retain any shape, even when trying to “wiggle them to make them curvy.”

“It makes it much easier to apply when they just fit right in! There are plenty of inexpensive lashes that work great, but just be weary of any that look flat when you take them out,” she said.

“You can definitely get them to apply but it takes much more time and skill for this,” she added.

Some of her favorite frugal finds included lashes from brands such as Koko Lashes, Ardell, House of Lashes, Violet Voss, and some of the Red Cherry options.

Lash lovers on a budget can try practicing with Ardell studio effects wispies that sell for $5.50.

The lashes are described as featuring an accented center with full-volume.

Their rounded style means that they are elongated in the center with shorter inner and outer corners.

You’ll also want to take your time to trim the lashes.

“If you don’t trim them and then they end up too close to the inner corner of your eye, they are super uncomfortable,” she said.

She explained how this feeling of discomfort is one of the biggest reasons why many people shy away from trying to apply their own lashes.

“Always trim from the outside since most lashes are slightly tapered toward the inner corner. Even if they are not, it’s usually just best practice to always go from the outside,” she said.

For extra staying power, you’ll also want to get a good glue.

One of her top recommendations was Ardell’s Duo brush-on buy.

“Brush it on and wait at least 30 seconds. This is super critical! If you don’t wait and try to pop them on right away, it will be a hot mess” she said.

The Ardell Duo brush-on strip lash adhesive sells for $7 and boasts the ability to offer a safe and secure lash fit.

A screw-on fine-tip brush cap lets you apply just the right amount for a lash hold that lasts the whole day.

While applying your lashes, make sure to sit in front of a mirror.

“Tilt your head back and look down,” she said.

She also shared another pro tip.

“I use my fingers for the initial application,” she said.

“I find with tweezers sometimes it’s hard to tell once you are actually sticking them onto your lid, and with all the lashes and hands and tweezers in the way, you can’t see what’s happening really well.

“Stick those suckers on and make sure they are attached in the middle.”

To avoid getting poked, you’ll want to take extra precautions to ensure you don’t go in too close to your inner corner.

“If they are they tapered toward the inner corner, it won’t look weird if you put them farther away from your inner corner,” she said.

To make sure the ends are properly applied, you can go in with tweezers and simply “stick them on.”

You might even find that you can easily apply them without using tweezers at all.

The last step to getting a luxe lash look includes “pressing” your real lashes to your falsies.

“Basically smoosh them together so they blend and there is no obvious separation,” she said.

Anti-aging tips

  • Keep your skin hydrated internally by drinking water and externally with moisturizer.
  • Always use sunscreen, even if you’re not in direct sunlight.
  • Use Vitamin C to brighten the skin and don’t forget to apply to your neck.

“Only do this after they are completely set – wait a minute or two,” she added.

“I use one of those curved lashes tweezers for this step so that I don’t rub mascara onto my hands and it works really well.”

Still, her biggest piece of advice had more to do with mindset than skill.

“I know its easier said than done but just practice, practice, practice! ” she said.

“You have to go into it with the confidence that you are going to stick that sh*t on and look fly, and there is no other option,” she added.

“I used to be really scared of it and it would show when my hand was shaking and I put it on all crazy and would have to retry.”
