Angelina Lukas to fight for WIBF title in April
Yesterday once beaten Kazakh female fighter Angelina Lukas (8-1, 4) [Ангелина Лукас] announced her next bout, which will take place in Bangkok on April 25th, and see her face off with Indian Mamta Singh (5-1, 2) for the WIBF Super Flyweight title.
Lukas, who is an unknown outside of Asia, is a huge Instagram star with around 2.2million followers, and is regularly referred to as "Kazakhstan's sexiest boxer" in her home land. Dubbed "Barbie", Lukas debuted in 2021, winning her first 5 bouts in Kazakhstan and Türkiye, before losing in a WBC "Silver" title at Bantamweight. Since then she has scored a win in Baku, winning the WIBA Bantamweight title, and two in Thailand, where she is now making her name. Amazingly this will be her 4th fight in as many months.
As for Singh the Indian certainly doesn't gather the domestic fanfare of "Barbie". She debuted in 2022 and won her first 4 bouts, before losing to Ramandeep Kaur last December. Since then she has beaten a debutant. Notably this will be her first bout outside of India, and is a notable step up in class.
Lukas has stated her goal is to clean up the title picture and become the absolute champion, claiming "Assalamu Aleikum, friends! Kazakhstan, this is where my journey to the title of absolute world champion has begun. To become an absolute world champion, you need to own all the titles: IBF, IBO, WIBF, WBO, WBC, WBA, WBF."
