He has decided to transfer but leaves with a lot of respect

The latest player review from the Duke Chronicle is of Mark Mitchell.

Mitchell had an up-and-down career at Duke offensively. At the beginning of this season, he had a terrible slump from three point shooting and at times his offense was an adventure.

But his defense was invaluable and at times, his offense was really impressive too.

Mostly though it was his defense.

At 6-9, he’s tall enough to guard most bigs and also agile enough to guard much smaller players.

He reminded us a bit of Luol Deng in the way he moved: it looked deceptively slow because of how long his strides are, but he’s not at all slow.

Of course, Mitchell has entered the transfer portal and he may end up back home at Kansas in the Big 12. Nothing final yet, but that’s the current rumor/projection.

We’ll miss him at Duke. He’s got the potential to be a wonderful player.
