Heung-min Son admits he was ‘really sad’ when Harry Kane joined Bayern Munich
Son Heung-min has admitted that he had built up a special connection with Harry Kane both on and off the pitch and confessed that he was saddened by his former teammate’s departure last summer.
Kane’s move to Bayern certainly did not come out of the blue as it had been quite clear in the months leading up that the striker was likely to depart, especially since he had just a year left in his contract at Tottenham.
That did not make the move any easier to digest for Spurs fans when it finally happened last summer and there were fears at the time regarding how the Lilywhites would be able to replace England’s captain’s goals.
However, Tottenham have dealt quite well with losing their record goalscorer, with plenty of players chipping in with goals, which is a testament to Ange Postecoglou’s work.
Son has certainly taken over additional responsibility on his shoulders, both in terms of delivering goals and from a leadership standpoint, with the South Korean now being the man his teammates look up to deliver in crunch moments.

The Tottenham captain admitted that Kane’s departure was not easy to take but wished the striker plenty of success in his new adventure at the Allianz Arena.
When asked about his relationship with the former Spurs man, Son told TNT Sports: “Me and H, we had something different. A connection together, nearly 10 years together. Playing in almost the same position, we knew where we are. We were also demanding each other very, very much. It was a very special connection.
“It was a huge honour playing with him. For me, he’s one of the best in the world. He left, which was really sad for me, but it was a good move for him. Now he’s at Bayern scoring over 30 goals, and I hope he can score more goals.”

Every big club in Europe would want Son if he decided to he wanted to leave Tottenham. The fact that the 31-year-old has never entertained that thought and is showing even more loyalty to the club than an academy graduate in Kane, shows how much he loves Spurs.
