A Redditor shared the brow and makeup technique tip in a post.

“I finally started doing soap brows and I’m never going back!” she said.

Soap brows, a hack that quickly grew popular on TikTok, is a method where users use soap in place of brow gel to hold up brow hairs.

The resulting look is a brushed, slick-up look that closely resembles laminated brows.

Soap contains glycerin, a common ingredient found in gels and pomades, that coats the surface of the hairs to keep them locked in place.

While soap lacks the color element found in brow makeup and doesn’t tint the hair, it serves as an affordable alternative for setting and shaping the brows.

The Redditor shared her brow results after using the soap.

“Top is bare brows, middle is soap applied, bottom is filled in with Mac Shape and Shade brow pen,” she said.

She broke down the technique with commenters unfamiliar with the method.

“Soap brows is the technique of using bar soap to set your brows instead of traditional brow gel. It gives a more fluffy, bushy look to the brow and the hold lasts all day!” she wrote.

“First, you wet the soap with setting spray or water and wiggle a makeup spoolie into the wet soap to coat the bristles.

“Then you coat your brow hairs and brush them up until you get your desired look and let it dry.

“The trick is to not load up your spoolie with too much soap to avoid clumpiness.

“After a few times of doing it, you get the hang of the technique and you can adjust the saturation of the soap based on the effect you want.”

Some had questions about the kinds of soap they could use to try the trick out for themselves.

“Looks so crisp and neat! I really want to try this. Do I just use any old soap for it?” asked one viewer.

The Redditor advised them to pick soaps that won’t leave a white cast or residue on the brows and shared her favorite $5 go-to.

“I would try and avoid white-based soaps like Irish Spring or Dove!” she said.

Instead, she recommended clear soaps to avoid ruining your makeup look.

“Try to find a soap with a translucent base to it so it doesn’t leave a white film on your brow hairs.

“The soap I use is close to my skin tone so it blends well. The Pear’s Transparent soap is a popular choice!”
