Congress had given Khajuraho seat to Samajwadi Party as part of the INDIA bloc seat-sharing, possibly due to a sizable presence of Yadav voters, who form the bulk of SP support base, in the constituency and its proximity to Uttar Pradesh, the SP's home state and main area of influence.
