Tiger Woods' tree-blocked Masters farewell to Verne Lundquist became an instant meme
Tiger Woods’ final round at Augusta National on Sunday took a momentary backseat to another Masters legend once he arrived at the last few holes of the afternoon.
That’s where Verne Lundquist was posted up on his usual perch calling his 40th and final Masters tournament. The voice behind some of the most iconic scenes at Augusta is wrapping up his historic career this weekend and Woods was not about to let a rough day on the scorecard stop him from paying his respects.

Unfortunately for the rest of us, that moment was obscured by one of Augusta’s giant trees.
We can only imagine what the two talked about and how Verne may have reacted to the gesture. Instead, we’re left with an image that’s already become a perfect meme: Tiger shaking hands with a tree.
