Herndon police officer shoots man while responding to domestic stabbing
As police responded to a domestic dispute Sunday where a woman was stabbed in Herndon, Virginia, authorities say one officer shot and wounded a man.
Both are in the hospital with serious injuries.
Officers were called to investigate a domestic dispute just before noon Sunday near First Place and Station Street, according to Herndon police. When officers arrived, they found a woman and a dog with stab wounds.
A man at the residence was then shot by officers on the scene, police said. No details have been released on what led up to the shooting.

The canine was taken to an emergency vet.
Police said the scene is still under investigation.
