Fire destroys house, storage building in Bend: officials
PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- A fire in a storage building which spread to a nearby house prompted response from Bend Fire & Rescue early Sunday morning.
Just before 12:45 a.m., crews responded to a reported structure fire near the 21000 block of Rickard Road. Callers were claiming a barn fire was in danger of spreading to a neighboring home.
On arrival, firefighters found a 1,400 square foot storage building fully engulfed in flames, which had spread to nearby trees and the outside of a small house.
The fire was quickly put out, but the storage building and everything inside were a complete loss, authorities say.
Additionally, while the fire did not significantly damage the inside of the house, it was still found unlivable.
The total damage is estimated to be $200,000, officials say.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
