The Spectrum: Trans activists speak out; State of the State
COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) – This week on The Spectrum:
- A Lutheran deacon and his non-binary child are speaking out as a bill restricting gender-affirming care for minors is set to go into effect this month.
“This is not a political issue for most,” said parent Nick Bates. “It is a personal issue.”
“Even just thinking about that is terrifying,” said his child Sam.

- Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine delivered his annual State of the State address this week.
“This is our time to meet the challenges I have laid out today, to do the hard things that matter,” DeWine said during the address.
