CT man charged with attempted murder, assault after allegedly stabbing partner multiple times

A man was arrested on attempted murder and assault charges after allegedly stabbing his partner multiple times during a domestic violence incident in Fairfield on Sunday.

Police officers responded to a home on Mountain Laurel Road at 11:09 p.m. on the report of a stabbing, according to Sgt. Michael Stahl of the Fairfield Police Department.

Police allege that 51-year-old Robert Van Weddle stabbed his partner multiple times during a domestic violence incident. The victim suffered serious injuries and was listed in stable condition, according to Stahl.

Weddle was arrested on charges of criminal attempt to commit murder, first-degree assault and disorderly conduct.

He was held on bond and was expected to be arraigned Monday in Bridgeport Superior Court.
