Maine approves interstate licensing of social workers

AUGUSTA, Maine: On April 12, the Maine Legislature passed a bill to join an interstate compact for social worker licensure to make it easier for social workers to practice in new states.

Proponents of the compact said the process of applying for a separate license in each state is time-consuming and inefficient and leaves communities with unmet needs.

The National Association of Social Workers said that s
