NEWLY crowned WWE Universal Champion Cody Rhodes is reportedly set for a Hollywood role.
Following in the footsteps of the likes of Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson and John Cena, Rhodes is said to be in line to become the latest wrestling star to take on the movie industry.

A recent report claimed that a reboot of The Naked Gun is in the works, led by Liam Neeson and Pamela Anderson, according to the DailyMail.
Exactly what character Rhodes’ cameo will see him take on is unclear.
However, an insider said he could be hypnotized, as was central to the original plot.
“Cody may be having a huge feud with The Rock in the WWE ring right now but it looks like the battle will extend to Hollywood as he is going to star in the new Naked Gun film,” the report claimed.
“And to make things a little easier for himself, he might actually end up playing himself in the film.”
It was later noted that Rhodes is no stranger to working in front of the camera.
Along with his work in the wrestling world, he has also made select TV appearances in shows such as Arrow and Warehouse 13.
“This will be a huge movie and Cody is super excited to film his part and make it something that’s both fun for him and funny for everyone that sees it,” the insider said.
And while Rhodes’ role is just a cameo, it was also noted that “his role is important and lends itself to the full story of the film.”
Neeson is slated to take on the role of Lieutenant Frank Drebin, originally played by legendary comedic actor, Leslie Nielsen.
Whether or not Anderson will take on the role of Jane Spencer, previously played by Pricilla Presley, is unknown.
The movie is set to be written by Dan Gregor, Doug Mand, and Akiva Schaffer, who created the 2022 hit Chip ‘N Dale: Rescue Rangers.
Schaffer, who has previously directed Saturday Night Live, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, and Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping, is also in line to direct.
The movie will be produced by Erica Huggins and Seth MacFarlane’s company Fuzzy Door, according to The Wrap.

It is scheduled to be released in July 2025.
As is seemingly set to be the case with the reboot, the much-loved 1988 original also featured its fair share of sporting stars.
Former NFL running back OJ Simpson appeared as Detective Nordberg, while MLB Hall of Famer Reggie Jackson also made a cameo appearance.
News of Rhodes’ reported addition to the cast comes just weeks after he dethroned Roman Reigns to become the Universal Champion at WrestleMania 40.
It marked the beginning of Rhodes’ first stint as the title holder, ending Reigns’ two-year reign.
