A patchy or water-clogged lawn can ruin the space’s aesthetic even when surrounded by beautiful flowers.
Eric Bramlett is a realtor and owner of Bramlett Residential, a mid-sized real estate brokerage in Austin, Texas.
Speaking to The U.S. Sun, he revealed the gardening tips that help any lawn to flourish.
STUDY THE SOIL
“Having a beautiful lush green lawn that pleasures gazing upon a thick, vibrant carpet of grass is something we can all take pride in and find feels good,” Bramlett said.
“But a nice looking yard doesn’t just make us feel good, it’s important for the environment too.
“Healthy grass helps clean the air we breathe and water that runs off our property after it rains.”
He likened soil to “food for our lawn” as he expressed the importance of understanding the nutrients it needs to flourish.
“Picking types of grass suited to our climate and planting at the right season makes a huge difference,” he said.
“Regular mowing, watering, and using fertilizer or whatever helps our grass stay in top shape.
“With a little work, we can keep our yards looking picture-perfect.”
TINY TRIMS
Bramlett said it’s “vital” to mow lawns but the frequency should vary according to your garden’s unique needs.
“Aim to mow about once a week when it’s growing fast in the spring and summer months,” he said.
“Pay attention to how quickly it’s growing with the weather – don’t stick to a strict schedule.
“Taking off just a little at a time lets it keep growing strong.
“Sharp blades cut evenly without tearing leaves, keeping it robust against issues.”

WATER WONDERS
“Give your lawn a good drink less often instead of daily light sprinkles,” Bramlett said.
“Go deep with around an inch of water two to three times a week.
“This encourages roots to grow downward where it’s moist, making grass resilient during hot spells.
“Early mornings are best before it gets too warm outside.”
FINAL TOUCHES
Bramlett recommended improving drainage by aerating, which involves making small holes in the ground to prevent water-logging.
He also suggested removing thatch, also known as dead grass, to allow sunlight and nutrients to reach new growth.
“Aerating, removing thatch, and pulling pesky weeds regularly make a big difference,” he said.
“Testing the dirt in your yard lets you give it exactly what it needs to thrive with fertilizer.
“With some tender loving care, our properties can have picture-perfect carpets of green benefiting both nature and our satisfaction.”
