DC Vs MI, IPL 2024: Prithvi Shaw Argues With Ricky Ponting? Delhi Capitals Batter Engages In Animated Chat With Head Coach

New Delhi: Prithvi Shaw looked dissatisfied after the Delhi Capitals was caught having an animated chat with head coach Ricky Ponting just before their coin toss against Mumbai Indians on Saturday. The incident took place at the eleventh hour when Shaw seemed like questioning Ponting over his exclusion from the playing XI. Although it wasn’t clear what the conversation was all about, but what looked from the naked eye, was the Australian making the Indian youngster understand why he was dropped.

The assumption came true minutes later when captain Rishabh Pant confirmed at the coin toss that Kumar Kushagra had replaced Shaw in the playing XI. Shaw’s inability to give Delhi Capitals a flying start in the powerplay might have made the team management drop Shaw. In seven games so far, the opener has scored just 185 runs at a strike rate of 162.28, including just one fifty.

On the other hand, Kushagra, who was bought for Rs. 7.2 crore during the auctions last December, has played just one IPL game and scored a golden duck after coming in as an Impact Player. Meanwhile, Mumbai Indians skipper Hardik Pandya won the toss and opted to field.

Mumbai Indians made one change to their playing XI, bringing in Luke Wood for Gerald Coetzee. The Delhi side made a couple of changes, bringing in Kushagra and Lizaad Williams for Shaw and Anrich Nortje. While Delhi Capitals are ranked sixth on the points table, Mumbai Indians are placed ninth.
