‘One of the most insensitive things I’ve seen’ mum slams Lucy Watson for boasting about ‘hyper privileged’ newborn life
LUCY Watson has been slammed by angry mums after sharing a video boasting about life with a newborn.
The Made In Chelsea star welcomed baby Willoughby, her first child with husband James Watson, in February.
Lucy has been open about motherhood in pictures and videos on her social media pages, and recently spoke about being in the “trenches of having a newborn”.
However, in a clip on TikTok this week, Lucy told her followers that she’s come out of the other side now that Willoughby has hit eight weeks old.
“If you were in the trenches of having a newborn, this is what eight weeks postpartum looks like,” she said.
“I just got a facial with my favourite facialist.
“Feeling brand new. Picked up an oat matcha, picked up some healthy food.”

She had left Willoughby with her husband and some “pumped milk”, and had enjoyed “driving around blasting my music like a teenager”.
Lucy added that the other positive development of this stage of motherhood is that she hasn’t “cried in a while”.
“Well, I cried this morning cause I thought I lost my pump charger,” she added.
“But I don’t really have many meltdowns anymore.”
Concluding her video, Lucy insisted: “I’m telling you, 8 weeks postpartum is it. It is it!”
People were quick to comment on the clip, with many insisting Lucy had missed the mark with her message.
“If you’re reading this and this isn’t your experience at 8 weeks, you’re not alone it was the worst time of my life (it did get better tho),” one wrote.
“Mummas please know that this isn’t even remotely the norm,” another said.
“I’m 15mo in, in the trenches of toddlerhood and still haven’t had a facial (or even a haircut for that matter).”
“Most people can barely afford formula/nappies on maternity pay WHATTTT!!!!” a third wrote.
And someone else insisted Lucy was detailing a “hyper privileged” lifestyle, adding: “I am genuinely glad that she’s around the corner 8 weeks I think it might be one of the most insensitive things that I ever seen on the internet.
“To start a video ‘if you’re in the newborn trenches’ and then go and talk about the fact that you’ve just got a matcha and then had a facial… just read the room Lucy, read the room.”
Lucy then responded to the backlash, as she wrote: “8 weeks PP has been a turning point for me!
“Doesn’t mean it will be for everyone, but for some it might be.
“Do I feel 100% myself? Obviously not, but I’m feeling much better & wanted to share.”
And others defended her, with one writing: “Obviously she knows it’s not everybody’s experience but it’s hers and we should all celebrate that because it’s nice to hear positive pp stories as well.”
“Some of these comments are so bitter, she can afford a facial and it’s made her feel great so I’m so here for that,” another said.
“It’s actually refreshing to hear about such a positive postpartum experience, TikTok is filled with a lot of doom and gloom,” a third commented.
“Love this for you.”
“Haters gonna hate,” someone else wrote.
“I was back to this after 5 weeks of having my twins. Felt amazing. She looks so happy and is glowing!!!”
