More Tesla layoffs coming to Buffalo in July
BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) -- Even more Tesla employees at the company's South Buffalo plant are set to lose their jobs.
According to a New York State WARN notice dated April 29, 26 more employees will be laid off starting July 30. This follows another layoff notice just over two weeks ago announcing that 285 members of Tesla's Buffalo workforce would be let go.
Both WARN notices cited the reason for the layoffs as "economic." According to an April report from The Associated Press, Tesla is planning to get rid of ten percent of its workforce after poor quarterly sales.
In all, the Texas-based company employs more than 140,000 people, more than 2,000 of whom work on South Park Avenue. None of the hundreds being laid off locally are represented by a union.
