Niagara Falls man pleads guilty to manslaughter connected to 2022 robbery
BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A Niagara Falls man has pleaded guilty to manslaughter and other charges in connection to a killing during a robbery in 2022, the Niagara County District Attorney's office said Thursday.
24-year-old Rohmelo Lewis admitted to the killing of 55-year-old Herbert Horton during a robbery on May 3, 2022. Lewis' plea came on the eve of a trial where he faces charges of Horton's murder, and other robberies that occurred in the days before.
He pleaded guilty to first-degree manslaughter, first-degree robbery and second-degree criminal possession of a weapon.
Two of Lewis' accomplices, 21-year-old Isaiah Christian and 20-year-old Shawn Bomberry, previously pleaded guilty to charges. Christian pleaded guilty to first-degree manslaughter and first-degree robbery and is awaiting sentencing. Bomberry pleaded guilty to second-degree attempted robbery and is currently serving a prison sentence.
The judge in the case committed to sentencing Lewis to 25 years in prison when he returns to court on July 5.
