Ajit Agarkar Reveals Why KL Rahul Snubbed From Indian T20 World Cup 2024 Squad
New Delhi: BCCI chief selector Ajit Agarkar revealed why the selectors and management chose Sanju Samson over KL Rahul in the team for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024 squad which will be played in USA and West Indies later this year in June.
Agarkar said that the team management was looking for a middle-order wicketkeeper batter and both Sajnu Samson and Rishabh Pant can bat down the order.
“Rahul has been batting at the top order, we were looking for middle order WK – we feel Sanju has the ability to bat down the order. It is about the slots we needed to fill, that is the thinking behind backing Pant & Samson” said Agarkar in press conference.
“If the World Cup turns out to be like the IPL where 220-230 is normal, we’ve enough power in the squad. I wanted 4 spinners in the squad. I won’t say the reason for that here, I’ll let you know in the USA” added Agarkar.
