Man extradited to CT to face murder charges in 2020 fatal shooting of 66-year-old man
A man has been extradited to Connecticut to face murder charges in connection with a fatal shooting in Norwich in 2020.
Brandon Foster, 35, was charged Thursday following his extradition with murder, felony murder, criminal possession of a firearm and unlawful discharge of a firearm, according to the Norwich Police Department.
The charges stem from the fatal shooting of 66-year-old Edward Mcintrye on June 10, 2020, police said. Officers responded to a report of a homicide to 52 Laurel Hill Ave. around 1:45 p.m. where they found Mcintrye dead. He had suffered multiple gunshot wounds, according to police.
Investigators arrested Norwich resident Kendon Cole, 30, in September 2020 on murder and related charges in connection with Mcintrye’s death, police said.
Police also obtained a warrant for Foster’s arrest in connection with the killing, but he fled the state and eluded authorities until he was apprehended on Jan. 18 in Charlotte, North Carolina. He remained in custody while his extradition proceedings took place.
Following his extradition to Connecticut, Foster was held on $2 million bond. He is scheduled to be arraigned in Norwich Superior Court on May 9, according to police.
Court records show the case against Cole remains pending. He is free on $2 million bond and is scheduled to appear before a judge on June 5.
“Thank you to our law enforcement partners in North Carolina, including the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Violent Criminal Apprehension Team and the personnel at the Mecklenburg County Jail,” Norwich Lt. Kyle Besse said in a statement.
