Fort Plain inmate accused of car theft
AMSTERDAM, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- A Fort Plain man, who was already incarcerated at the Montgomery County Correctional Facility, is now accused of stealing a car dating back to February. Anibal Berrios, 48, faces new charges.
On February 22, Montgomery County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to a Palatine home for reports of a car theft. While investigating, deputies say the Amsterdam Police Department had found the car in Amsterdam and arrested the suspect on several unrelated charges.
Deputies identified the suspect as Berrios. Deputies obtained an arrest warrant for Berrios from the Palatine Town Court.
Deputies say Berrios was already incarcerated at the Montgomery County Correctional Facility on unrelated charges but was arrested again on Thursday and was charged with third-degree grand larceny in this case.
Berrios remains in the custody of the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office and is scheduled to return to the Palatine Town Court at a later date.
