Glens Falls Senior Center celebrates 65 years

GLENS FALLS, N.Y. (NEWS10) — Glens Falls Senior Center celebrates its anniversary on Friday, May 3. Staff and community members can reminisce about the last 65 years of service to the community and learn about the historic Sherman House.

The Sherman House, where the center moved in 1962, offers members a place for companionship, friendship, information, and referral services. That's where they're holding the celebration, which includes an anniversary cake and a PowerPoint presentation highlighting key points throughout the senior center's history.

Executive Director Kim Bren said the center provides a warm atmosphere with professional staff to help them and they are excited about their 65-year legacy. "They love the feeling of 'home away from home' and 'joining our family' when they enter our center," she said. "They have a place that is safe and serves their changing needs."

Glens Falls Senior Center looks to improve the quality of life for people 50 and up with educational, recreational, and health-related programs. It began with 128 members in 1959; today, it has 640 members.
