Victim of fatal crash on Route 85 identified
ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- The Town of Bethlehem Police Department have announced the identity of the person who died in a crash on Route 85 on May 1. Shawna Marzahl, 53, of Selkirk, was declared dead at the scene on Wednesday morning near the City of Albany line.
According to police, the investigation determined that around 6:45 a.m., a vehicle heading westbound on Route 85 crossed over the center lane markings. This resulted in the vehicle colliding with a car traveling eastbound, which was being driven by Marzahl.
Police say the impact from the crash also caused damage to the car directly behind Marzahl's after it was hit with debris. The driver of the westbound car was reportedly treated for non-life threatening injuries, and the operator of the third vehicle was not injured.
The roadway was closed to traffic for several hours on Wednesday while the scene was being cleared. The investigation into the crash remains ongoing.
