2021 murder of 10-year-old Louisiana boy remains unsolved
BASTROP, La. (KARD/KTVE) -- A 10-year-old Louisiana boy was murdered in a drive-by shooting near his home in Bastrop in 2021. No arrests have been made and his killer is still out there.
Lebron Robinson was the youngest of four siblings. He was small but mighty, as his mother, Nydia Hatfield, describes her son.
"Oh, he wasn't the younger brother. He was the oldest in his mind," Hatfield said. "He was everybody's dad, even mine."
He was just a boy, full of life, no worry in the world, but that was all ripped away.
"Lebron was an active person," Hatfield said. "He loved family. He loved friends. He loved everybody. He was just a lovable person. If you ever met him, he'll make you laugh."
On July 4, 2021, at around 9 p.m., first responders arrived on Carbon Plant Road in Bastrop, where they found Lebron suffering from gunshot wounds to the chest. He was transported to a local hospital where he later died.
Hatfield was away from home when she learned Lebron had been shot. He was shipped to Little Rock, Arkansas for autopsy.
"I was devastated because I didn't get the chance to see him," she said. "When he did come back, it was like three or four days later and it was just like I had to see him. I had to see him and when I did see him, he was already cold."
Hatfield called life without her son, "the hardest thing ever."
"I suffer from depression, and anxiety," she said. "Sometimes I can't even stay at work. I'm not comfortable around people. So, I really just like to be in my own home."
Hatfield has a message to her son's killer:
"You're gonna pay. You're gonna pay sooner or later, you're gonna pay."
