MARTIN Freeman is back on screens as he plays bent copper Chris Carson – but he’s worlds away from the character in real life.
The 52-year-old Hampshire native has become a well-known face on the small and big screen for his high-profile roles.
Martin first shot to prominence when he played Tim Canterbury in the BBC’s smash-hit comedy The Office in 2001.
He also starred in Love Actually, as film stand-in John who had a racy porn scene with Judy (Joanna Page).
The dad-of-two also starred in Fargo, The Hobbit, played Dr. John Watson in Sherlock and recently created and starred in Sky series Breeders.
His raft of credits have earned him two Emmys, a BAFTA, as well as being nominated for a Golden Globe Award.
The Sun previously revealed how Martin is now worth a staggering 15million and sitting on cash reserves thought to be around five million.
Off-camera Martin has had a turbulent time during the last decade as he split from wife Amanda Abbington.
The pair were together for 16 years, having met on the set of Only Men back in 2000.
Amanda, who caused controversy with her short-lived appearance on Strictly last year, opened up on the effects of their split on her and Martin’s children Joe and Grace.
The 52-year-old said: “I’m sure I’ve given them irreparable damage and they will be going to therapy because of me and Martin at some point.
“That’s what I am striving for and what Martin strives for as well — to create a place where they’re not hiding anything.”
Martin has also spoken about their divorce, admitting he’ll ‘always love’ Amanda.
He told the Financial Times: “I’m not with Amanda anymore, before adding: “It’s very, very amicable — I’ll always love Amanda.”
Freeman has since moved on with 29-year-old French-born actress Rachel Mariam.

The couple started dating in 2020 and have been pictured together at events, with Rachel often sharing photos of them to her social media.
When he’s not the in public eye Martin unwinds in his £5million London mansion fit with a wine cellar and landscaped gardens.
Martin took out a mortgage with royal bankers Coutts & Co to buy the property in 2019, shortly after his split from actress girlfriend Amanda Abbington.
A source said of the purchase: “Martin is a major star and his new home is an A-list property. It is an area beloved by film and TV stars and he loves it there.”
