I’m a cleaning whizz – the 2p hack I swear by to disinfect my dishwasher and stop it from getting nasty and smelly
A CLEANING whizz has revealed her clever 2p hack to stop dishwashers from getting nasty and smelly.
Claire explained that she uses the trick once a week to “deodorise and disinfect” her machine.
In a video on her Sister Pledge Cleans TikTok page, she showed herself taking a tablet out of a tube of denture tablets, before she popped it into the bottom of the machine – where the filter is.
“Denture tablets active ingredients are citric acid and sodium bicarbonate,” she said.
“The water that sits in the bottom of your dishwasher can get smelly so add one of these once a week to freshen and disinfect and keep your filters deodorised.”
And considering you can get a tube of 30 denture tablets for 87p, the hack costs just 2p each – meaning it won’t break the budget either.
“Put 1 in the toilet bowl overnight, use in the shower drain after each shower,” one person commented on the video.
To which Claire replied: “Yes!
“Loads of uses for them and so cheap as well!”
“I use them to clean reusable water bottles,” another admitted.
Denture tablets also often used to help get rid of tea and coffee stains on mugs.
Simply fill the mug with some warm water, before popping in one of the tablets.
It will begin to fizz, which is a sign that it’s working its magic.
In fact, there are loads of other uses for denture tablets that people swear by in their cleaning routines.
You can use a tablet to unclog your drains, clean oily tupperware, remove burnt on food from pans and get rid of stains from clothes.
They’re also brilliant to get your grout clean again.
