State Police investigate fatal Orange County crash

WALLKILL, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- New York State Police are investigating a fatal crash on Friday near the intersection of State Route 211 and State Route 17 in Wallkill. Mary Shea (38, Connecticut) was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to State Police, the crash happened around 11 p.m. A preliminary investigation found Shea was walking on State Route 211 when she stepped off the curb and into the right lane of traffic. She was hit by a Ford Escape driving west.

The driver stopped, called 911, and attempted to give first aid. Shea was pronounced dead at the scene. This is an ongoing investigation. Anyone with information on the crash is asked to call (845) 344-5300.
