List: Free movies and concerts among things to do in New Albany this summer
NEW ALBANY, Ohio (WCMH) -- Free movie and concert series are among the things to do this summer in New Albany.
June
The Temptations and The Four Tops
- At McCoy Center for the Arts on June 11 at 7:30 p.m.
Two groups with a combined 17 Number One songs on Billboard's R&B charts will perform.
Family Flick Night: Cars
- At Hinson Amphitheater on June 13 at 7:30 p.m.
The first of three free Family Flick Nights will show the animated movie Cars.
Juneteenth celebration
- At Hinson Amphitheater on June 19
Over 500 people were estimated to have attended New Albany's 2023 Juneteenth Celebration. The event features music, dance, food trucks and more.
Summer in Italy
- June 20-23
A series of Italy-themed events including a culinary class, Italian book tasting, a finale concert and more.
Summer Movie Series: Luca
- At The Preserve on June 21, festivities begin at 6:30 p.m., movie starts at sunset
As part of Summer in Italy, the Disney Pixar movie Luca will be shown in the parks department's summer movie series.
Summer Concert Series: Parrots of the Caribbean
- At Hinson Amphitheater on June 27 from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
The first in a series of free concerts, Parrots of the Caribbean play a blend of zydeco, rock and country, and Jimmy Buffett songs.
July
New Albany Independence Day 5K
- At Market Square on July 4 at 7:45 a.m.
New Albany Symphony Orchestra presents an annual 5K, sponsored by Ohio Health.
Independence Day Parade & Festival
- Route starts at the New Albany Primary School parking lot and ends at Church of Resurrection parking lot on July 4, parade begins at 11 a.m.
- Fireworks begin at approximately 10 p.m.
Thousands of residents and visitors attend New Albany's parade in the morning and festival in the evening on Independence Day.
Summer Concert Series: Epic Eagles
- At Hinson Amphitheater on July 11 from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
The second in a series of free concerts, Epic Eagles are an Eagles cover band, playing hits like Hotel California and The Boys of Summer.
Summer Movies Series: Trolls Band Together
- At Windsor on July 19, festivities begin at 6:30 p.m., movie starts at sunset
The third installment of the Trolls franchise will be shown at the parks department's summer movie series.
Summer Concert Series: Battle of the DJs
- At Hinson Amphitheater on July 25 from 7 to 9 p.m.
The third in a series of free concerts, New Albany invites guests to get on their feet and "Just Dance!" as two DJs play hits from around the world.
New Albany Dance Festival
- At Hinson Amphitheater and Jeanne B. McCoy Center for the Arts on July 26-28
The New Albany Dance Festival will include concerts, free dance classes, and a studio showcase.
Taste of New Albany
- At Rose Run Park on July 28 from 5 to 10 p.m.
This $700 per table event features food, fun, friends and entertainment with a showcase of area restaurants, caterers, and specialty food vendors.
Family Flick Night: Toy Story
- At Hinson Amphitheater on July 30 at 7:30 p.m.
The animated Disney Pixar movie Toy Story will be shown at a free family movie night.
August
Summer Concert Series: The British Invasion
- At Hinson Amphitheater on Aug. 8 from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
The fourth and final in a free summer concert series, The British Invasion has been called "the ultimate tribute to 60s British Rock."
Summer Movie Series: Barbie
- At Bevelhymer Park on Aug. 10, festivities begin at 6:30 p.m., movie starts at sunset
The 2023 film Barbie, starring Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling as Barbie and Ken, will be shown.
Family Flick Night: The Secret Life of Pets
- At Hinson Amphitheater on Aug. 13 at 7:30 p.m.
The animated movie The Secret Life of Pets will be shown as the last in a series of free family movie nights.
Business Park Tour
- At New Albany International Business Park on Aug. 21 at 4, 5, and 6 p.m.
Join New Albany Economic Development staff on a shuttle tour that includes the history of the business park, design and development standards, and other interesting facts.
