Incredible Morgan-Pininfarina speedster with over 250 HOURS of hand-beaten metal work is unveiled for eye-watering sum
A NEW special edition Pininfarina-Morgan designed car with over 250 hours of hand-beaten metal work has been unveiled for an eye-watering sum.
The Morgan Midsummer is a design collaboration featuring limited-edition changes – with just 50 available priced around £200k.
The 340hp BMW straight-six, with eight-speed automatic car celebrates elite coachbuilding.
It is inspired by Riva speedboats, classic Lancias designed by Pininfarina, as well as the Morgan back catalogue.
The number of hand-formed elements on Midsummer is higher than any other Morgan models.
It boasts subtly crowned bonnet and rear, and re-imagined bonnet louvres and stainless steel lower sills.
HISTORY OF THE MORGAN MOTOR COMPANY
Morgan Motor Company Limited is a British motor car manufacturer owned by Italian investment group Investindustrial.
It was founded in 1910 by Henry Frederick Stanley Morgan.
It is based in Malvern Link and employs approximately 220 people.
The firm produces 850 cars annually, all assembled by hand, with waiting lists ranging from six months to 10 years.
Morgan cars are unique in their use of wood in the framing for body shells.
There are also black hand-formed aluminium ‘piano keys’ external vents, inspired by Pininfarina’s old Lancia designs.
Hundreds of individual layers of wood have also been delicately laminated together to complete each section of the interior.
There are also new wheel designs, a dramatically shallower rear end, a suave new body design that makes the car more aerodynamic, as well as Nitron dampers fitted.
Production on the 50 Midsummers will begin later in the year and continue into 2025.
Buyers can choose whichever paint and upholstery they want.
The car will be showcased at the Festival of Speed later this summer.
