The popularity of Netflix’s Bridgerton has inspired fans of the show to redecorate their bedrooms with some royal touches[/caption] Clare Schifano, interior expert at And So To Bed, gives her tips for incorporating some Regencycore design into your home[/caption]REGENCYCORE REVAMP
To truly live like a noble, take a few notes from the show’s interiors playbook.
If you are a fan of your favorite character’s estates, you might just be ready to redesign your bedroom with some Regencycore.
Regencycore, a trend that is reminiscent of the Regency period in England during the 1800s, is now rocking the design world.
Clare Schifano, interior expert at luxury bed and mattress retailer, And So To Bed, reveals how you too can live like royalty.
COLOR ME ROYAL
Her first tip is to change up your color scheme.
Schifano explained how Regencycore can be separated into a couple of different – but equally decadent – design looks.
For example, you can choose soft pastels and floral designs, or decide on darker hues.
Think rich, royal reds, blue tones, and heavier jacquard throws, a fabric with designs woven in.
If you’re feeling more aligned with the aesthetics of the Featherington family, you might prefer their same pastel interiors with pops of color.
If you’ve seen the show, you’re likely familiar with their lime green, bright orange, and canary yellow designs.
Their home also incorporates soft powder pink and sage greens.
For a moodier motif, she suggests using navy blues, “damson, rich burgundy” and “dazzling emeralds.”
You will certainly be channeling Penelope who can also be seen in more romantic colors this season.
DESIGN OF YOUR BEDROOM DREAMS
After you pick your color palette, she recommends tying everything in with your bedding, walls, curtains, rugs, and ornaments.
“The bed is often the biggest – and grandest – piece of furniture in a bedroom and is what the eye instantly sees when it enters the space,” she said.
“With this in mind, the style of your bed is vital in dictating the ‘feel’ of your bedroom.”
Add some instant royal flair with a four-poster bed[/caption]Beds with wooden gilded frames and upholstered headboards are signatures of the time period.
She is also a fan of the four-poster bed.
“This classic frame can upgrade any bedroom, with added gold or silver leaf taking it to the upper echelon of the Ton – certainly giving Lady Whistledown something to talk about,” she said.
GO GOLD
For an even more glam effect, glitz your furniture trimmings with gold.
This revamp is sure to add regal style to your space.
Using glitzy gold accents is another way to live out your Bridgerton bedroom daydreams[/caption]From mirrors to lampshades, go gold crazy.
She also recommends using the shade against a wood backdrop.
“Instantly bring that antique feel to your boudoir,” she said.
FLOORED
A more affordable way to invoke some Regencycore is through your rugs.
No re-carpeting is necessary.
Rich jewel tones or lighter pastels can give your room some romanticism[/caption]“Persian rugs were highly fashionable during the Regency era and are perfect for adding some timeless beauty to a more contemporary space,” she said.
Another trick involves making the rug a prominent centerpiece of the room.
Simply place it along the side of the bed or underneath.
This will also “open up” the space.
WOW WALLS
Queen Charlotte would certainly agree with adding a “bold” feature wall.
“Incorporating botanical and jacquard wallpapers as part of your regency pallet will bring some personality to your room, while also adding a dose of glamour,” she said.
Decorating a feature wall can also add some Bridgerton style to your space[/caption]To ensure the space doesn’t feel cramped, choose one feature wall in the bedroom.
She recommends the wall behind your bed as the best choice for incorporating a standout wallpaper.
