Unprecedented surge in terrorist attacks in Pakistan
Pakistan has been experiencing a significant increase in terrorist attacks for several consecutive years, and the latest report from the Ministry of Interior shows that more than 2,000 terrorist attacks were recorded across the country in 2023 alone.
Pakistani media reported on Friday, May 17, citing the Ministry of Interior, that at least 1,215 people, including 400 military personnel, were killed in various parts of the country as a result of 2,075 “terrorist” attacks in 2023.
The number of people injured in these attacks in Pakistan in 2023 has been reported as 2,593.
The unprecedented increase in terrorist attacks in Pakistan has exacerbated serious tensions between the country’s government and the authorities of the Taliban administration in Afghanistan.

The Pakistan Institute for Security and Studies also published a report stating that nearly one thousand military and civilian personnel were killed in “terrorist” attacks across the country in 2023.
The report, published on December 31, mentioned that 2023 was the deadliest year for the Pakistan Army and military personnel in the past decade.
Pakistan faced a total of 586 “terrorist attacks” in 2023, 17 per cent of which were carried out by Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and ISIS Khorasan.
The Pakistani Taliban also recently published a report stating that they carried out a total of 881 attacks in Pakistan in 2023, resulting in the deaths of more than 2,193 Pakistani soldiers.
