Rain chances increase around Portland area this weekend
PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- Rain chances are on the rise this weekend around the Portland-Vancouver area after a nearly week-long stent of dry skies.
Cooler temperatures return with afternoon highs sitting below average on Saturday afternoon. The return of clouds will help keep conditions cooler on Saturday and Sunday. Some of those clouds could bring a chance for a few light rain showers Saturday afternoon and into Sunday.
Rain accumulation will be minimal along the Willamette Valley. The greatest amount of rain accumulation is expected along the coast. That's where rainfall totals will near a couple of hundredths of an inch to nearly 0.2."
Drier and warmer weather is expected to return by the start of Monday. That's where sunshine will push Portland's temperatures back into the 70s.
Temperatures will fall again as the next round of rain returns on Tuesday. Scattered rain showers and cooler-than-average temperatures will continue through the middle of next week. Temperatures are expected to warm by the following weekend as Memorial Day weekend kicks off the unofficial start to summer.
