Major airlines are DITCHING iconic freebie – but it’s not all bad news for passengers

MAJOR airlines are ditching an iconic freebie which used to be found on every plane.

Sick bags are now a thing of the past – and there’s a good reason why.

For decades flyers would find the bags in the pocket from the seat back in front of you – along with the airplane safety card.

But these days its very rare to come across one.

The bags were traditionally used for motion sickness.

However, today’s modern, larger aircraft aren’t as bouncy as they used to be.

And with people growing more accustomed to flying and with new technology – meaning flights are less likely to take off in bad weather – it means less passengers feel ill.

For this reason, many airlines have been ditching the paper bags.

However, if you do come across a bag – they can come in useful in other ways.

One woman recently shared an ingenious travel hack that means you can binge watch your favourite series, even when there’s no TV screen on the back of your plane seat.

Katarina Mogus, who shares tech hacks on her TikTok account @katamogz revealed that she uses her mobile phone and the sick bag given to you on a short-haul flight.

In a video posted to her social media platform under the title “travel hack that is going to change your life”, Katarina demonstrated how it’s done.

First, she removed her phone from its protective cover and took hold of the sick bag.

Next, Katarina laid the paper sick bag in the phone cover, before she put her phone back on top so that it was captured tightly inside.

Once the phone was securely back in its cover, the social media user folded the excess part of the sick bag into her behind the aeroplane’s fold-up table.

Then, she locked it into place so that it was hanging from the tray, creating a perfect sized screen to watch Netflix on.

It comes as one travel expert revealed the best way to save space while packing your suitcase.

Sneaky baggage hack

A WOMAN has revealed the sneaky trick she uses to bag cheap flights – but the hack comes with a risk.

Brits looking to save money on their next holiday abroad will be familiar with money-saving hacks like Google Flights, and using incognito mode on browsers to reduce the cost of their ticket.

But one woman has saved hundreds by booking her plane tickets using a very sneaky hack called skiplagging.

Skiplagging, also known as “hidden-city” or “throwaway” ticketing, involves booking a cheaper flight with the option to layover in another city.

The practice includes booking the stopover flight, and not flying the entire route as the traveller’s desired destination is the layover city.

Sophie Partlow is just one traveller who has been using the hack to save money on her holidays for several years.

She told Business Insider: “Ultimately I have no remorse and no angst about using hidden-city tickets.”

“I feel like because of the fact that airlines have had a chokehold on prices and availability for as long as they have, then more power to Skiplagged for giving some of that control back to the travelers.”

While the hack is perfectly legal, some airlines have been clamping down on the practice in recent years.

This simple hack will allow holidaymakers extra room to bring along as many items as they want.

In a video shared on TikTok by @melaniethetravelgirl, the organisation whizz assured her followers they’d never have to sacrifice another outfit.

Meanwhile, this clever item will help make walking through the airport a breeze.
