10 NYC food festivals worth visiting in June

NEW YORK (PIX11) -- Food lovers in New York City are in for a treat with the plethora of food festivals offering a rich variety of cuisines.

Whether you're a dedicated foodie or simply seeking a fun and unique experience, these festivals and night markets are an absolute must-visit!

Bronx Night Market - June 1

Located at 1 Fordham Plaza, the Bronx Night Market runs from April to October on the first Saturday of every month. The open-air market features a lineup of 50 local vendors, live music, and performances. The festival runs from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Creole Food Festival - June 1, 2

Showcasing the culinary talents of chefs from Africa, the Caribbean, Latin America, South America and, the South, the 6th annual Creole Food Festival offers a dishes that blend French, Spanish, West & North African, Amerindian, Haitian and Portuguese cuisine.

The event is held at the Serafina in the Sky and runs from 2 to 8 p.m. on both days. General admission tickets include two tasting tickets, one sponsored drink tickets, and more. VIP tickets are also available for purchase.

Vegan Night Market - June 4

Searching for a wide spread of plant-based cuisine? Look no further! The Vegan Night Market is back for the second year after a successful launch in 2023. Held at Columbus Circle, the market will be open from 12-8 p.m. every first Tuesday from June to October.

Uptown Night Market - June 13

Held under the arches at West 133rd Street and 12th Avenue, the open-air market begins at 4 p.m. and features over 60 vendors. The market runs through October and is held every second Thursday. Admission is free but RSVPs are encouraged.

161st Friday Food Festival - June 14

Hosted by Meteor Festivals, the 161st Friday Food Festival offers plenty of food options for both lunch and dinner! The festival runs from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Joyce Kilmer Park on 161st Street.

Taiwan Fest - June 16

Don’t miss out on this great opportunity to try out some of Taiwan’s most traditional street foods. You can sample Bahtsang, which is a bamboo tamale, Bawan, a Taiwanese-style glutinous meatball, and Lobapng, braised pork over rice. The festival is held at 7th Avenue and 9th Street in Park Slope, Brooklyn.

Dragon Fest - June 16, 22

Looking to try some delicious soup dumplings or a roasted crispy Peking duck bun? Look no further! The Dragon Fest at Astor Place offers a wide variety of delectable Chinese dishes in one location. You can come with your friends or journey to the festival on your own to immerse yourself in art, traditions, and culture.

Dragon Fest on June 16 will be held at 7th Avenue in Brooklyn between 5th and 6th Street. The festival will then move to Washington Square Park between 5th Avenue and University Place on June 22.

Brooklyn Night Market - June 24

Nestled in Industry City, the Brooklyn Night Market is a must-visit destination for food enthusiasts. The outdoor night market showcases 65 vendors with food and drinks from all corners of the world. The festival is free and runs from 4 to 10 p.m. at 220 36th Street in Brooklyn.

Japan Fes – June 8, 15, 16, 29, 30

Japan Fes is a food festival that offers a wide range of culinary delights and unique variations of traditional Japanese dishes, from Grade A wagyu steaks to cute dog-shaped taiyaki. The festival features vendors from all across NYC and even out of state, who come together to showcase their delicious cuisines. The festivals run from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the following locations:

• June 8 - Midtown West (8th Avenue, 49th - 50th Street)
• June 15 - NoHo (Bleeker, Broadway - 6th Avenue)
• June 16 - Park Slope (7th Avenue, 9th - 10th Street)

Smorgasburg – Every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday

Not sure what type of cuisine you are in the mood for? Head to the festival with the name that quite literally means a variety of something. Smorgasburg is held at the World Trade Center on Fridays, the Marsha P. Johnson State Park in Williamsburg on Saturdays, and Prospect Park on Sundays.
