PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- A man received a six-year sentence on Monday after a 2020 shooting that resulted in the death of a 27-year-old man, Multnomah County District Attorney Mike Schmidt announced.
A jury found Thomas Cooper, 36, guilty of second-degree manslaughter with a firearm after causing the death of Tyrell Penney. Another man was also paralyzed in the shooting, officials said.
In a previous trial, Cooper was acquitted of one count of second-degree attempted murder, one count of first-degree assault and one count of unlawful use of a weapon.
Cooper will be transported to the Oregon Department of Corrections to serve his sentence.
