Icelandic Aurora and Orion

Photographer: Egidio VerganiSummary Author: Egidio VerganiOn evening last fall, the countryside of Kirkjubæjarklaustur, Iceland was beautifully lit in the soft tones of a green colored aurora. Shades of red and purple could also be detected. Rising above the eastern horizon, Orion is prominent at center. My friends and I spent more than 3-hours just admiring the constantly changing sky that presented us this fairy-tale image. When darkness falls across Iceland's cold landscape, it's always a thrill when the spectacle of the aurora borealis makes an appearance. Photo taken on November 13, 2023.
