The Baltimore Orioles began their four-game series with the Toronto Blue Jays on Monday in the Rogers Centre and defeated the Blue Jays 7-2 with the help of four “coup de circuit”. Regardless of the language, a homerun is a homerun and Anthony Santander (2 for 4, HR, 2 R, 2 RBI) started the festivities with his 11th tater in the second inning.
Austin Hays (2 for 4, 2 HR, 2 R, 3 RBI) hit his first and second homeruns of the year in the fourth and seventh innings, respectively and then Ramon Urias (1 for 1, HR, R, RBI) capped off the night with a ninth inning homerun.
Keeping the Toronto offense in check was starter Grayson Rodriguez (6-2) who held the Jays to 2 runs, 1 earned, on 7 hits (HR) while striking out 4 over 6.2 innings. Rodriguez threw 66 strikes among his 86 total pitches in earning the win.
Yennier Cano (1.1 IP) retired the four batters he faced and Keegan Akin allowed a hit and struck out one in 1.0 inning of work.
Colton Cowser went 1 for 4 with a double, 1 run scored and 1 RBI.
Connor Norby went 0 for 3 in his MLB debut.
Gunnar Henderson went 1 for 5 with a double.
Ryan O’Hearn went 1 for 3 with a run scored, a walk and a stolen base while Jordan Westburg went 1 for 4 with a stolen base as well.
