Report: Spurs youngster called up to train with national side
Tottenham Hotspur academy goalkeeper Josh Keeley has been called up to train with the senior Republic of Ireland national side after impressing out on loan in the second half of the 2023-24 season.
While there has been a lot of focus on how the likes of Alfie Devine, Ashley Phillips, Troy Parrott and others have done out on loan, Keeley‘s performances have gone slightly under the radar.
After impressing between the sticks for Tottenham’s Under-21 side during the first half of the campaign, the 21-year-old made a temporary move to non-league side Barnet in January.
Keeley was a regular between the sticks for his club and was a standout performer, with his displays helping the side make it to the National League play-offs where they eventually lost in the semi-finals.
Josh Keeley trains with senior Republic of Ireland team
The Spurs man, who was initially with the Republic of Ireland’s Under-21 squad has now been called up to train with the senior squad.
The youngster has begun training with John O’Shea’s men over the next few days before returning to the Under-21s set-up for their upcoming clashes against Croatia and England.

With Brendan Austin signing a new deal and with Fraser Forster looking set to continue as Guglielmo Vicario’s understudy for next season, it makes sense for Tottenham to loan Keeley out again.
The youngster will benefit from learning to cope with the pressure of being the number one at a League Two or League One side.
