Serie A club approach Tottenham to sign player on permanent deal – Fabrizio Romano
Fabrizio Romano reports that Genoa have now approached Tottenham in an attempt to sign Djed Spence on a permanent transfer this summer following his loan spell last season.
Spence featured sixteen times for Genoa in Italy last season, racking up more than 850 minutes on the pitch, and it appears he impressed during his time at the Serie A club.
BBC Sport reported recently that Genoa are interested in signing the English right-back on a permanent deal this summer but are not keen on triggering the £8.5m option-to-buy clause in their loan agreement.
Alasdair Gold also suggested this week that Spurs may attempt to move the youngster on permanently this summer rather than opting for another loan deal.
Genoa want to sign Djed Spence from Tottenham this summer
Fabrizio Romano has now reported that Genoa have made contact with Tottenham about the prospect of taking Djed Spence back this summer, and negotiations are ongoing between the two clubs.
It is said that a deal will ‘depend on the price’, which implies Genoa do not intend on triggering that option-to-buy for the defender at this stage.
Romano tweeted: ‘Genoa have approached Tottenham to sign Djed Spence on permanent transfer. Negotiations ongoing between the two clubs and player side, it will depend on the price.’
Spurs Web Opinion:
Djed Spence really does need to go this summer. You get the feeling that Postecoglou doesn’t fancy him and Tottenham need to be brutal with this rebuild. Spence also needs a bit of a reset in his career and a permanent move will give him that.
