Volleyball BC Seeks to Evaluate its Competition System

This is the second straight year that Volleyball BC has experienced this registration growth of over 15% and after engaging with members, staff, clubs, coaches, referees, and the Board of Directors VBC has begun the process of a competition review for the VBC indoor club volleyball system. To assist VBC in undertaking this initiative VBC is seeking a consultant to lead the process of review and support VBC in working through the process of evaluation of the competition system that is currently in place in BC for volleyball. VBC has released an Request for Proposals for individuals who are qualified and interested in being a key part of this important and integral process. The Request for Proposals submission window closes on July 21, 2024.

VBC will be forming a working group who will be an integral part of the process of evaluation and the competition review. The Competition Review Working Group’s key duties are:
1. Support the appointed consultant to identify understand the strengths and limitations of our existing system, with a focus on capacity challenges due to increasing participation, reduced facility access, resource constraints, and BC’s unique geography.

2. Provide guidance to the appointed consultant to ensure the project and resulting recommendations are based on comprehensive and wide-ranging consultation and engagement with the volleyball community (including athletes, coaches, clubs, officials, community representatives, and parents) to gather insights and perspectives on the current system and potential improvements.

3. Ensure that the appointed consultant meets the deliverables outlined in the agreed scope of work including: – Development of actionable recommendations for adjustments to the competition structure, – Creation of a plan for implementation of recommended changes, including timelines, key milestones, estimated costs, and considerations for minimizing disruption during the transition.

The Working Group will be established for a short-term duration of 1 year in order to support the work of an appointed consultant to review and evaluate the current competition system and to support the creation of recommendations to enhance or adjust our competition structure from 2026 onward. Additional information on the Working Group is outlined in the working groups Terms of Reference. VBC is seeking individuals to participate on the Working Group. Please review the Terms of Reference for information on the commitment and timelines and application process.

Volleyball BC is extremely proud of the growth of our sport over the last two seasons and we recognize that our current system potentially is no longer able to support the number of participants in our sport any longer and may need to shift to ensure that volleyball can continue to grow and expand while offering a quality sport experience for all of our participants and Clubs.

Sincerely,
Volleyball BC
