Norwich City Project ‘Almost Too Good To Be True’ Admits New Canaries Assistant

Glen Riddersholm has revealed the project put in front of him by Norwich City was ‘almost too good to be true’ and he is relishing the challenge.

The 52-year-old is going to Norwich with Johannes Hoff Thorup to act as his assistant.

Norwich sacked David Wagner after they failed in the playoffs this season and have turned to young and relatively inexperienced boss Thorup to do better next term.

Experienced Riddersholm is going with him, with the coach’s last assignment coming in the Swedish top flight at Norrkoping as manager.

He admits that dropping down to become an assistant was something which could not be turned down when Norwich arrived with their ‘almost too good to be true’ offer.

Riddersholm told Danish outlet Tipsbladet: “All of a sudden, a project is dropped that is almost too good to be true.

“Once I had talks with Johannes, his agency BTAM, Ben Knapper and Neil Adams, it went from being really serious to being all that I’m looking for.”

Despite having been the manager of a side in the Swedish top flight, Riddersholm has no doubt that the Norwich job is bigger.

“It’s much bigger.

“It’s not that all my time at Norrkoping was bad, and looking back I did my due diligence, learned a lot and had important experiences, but you just can’t prepare for everything.”

Riddersholm took charge of Norrkoping for 48 games and had a win percentage of 37 per cent, which eventually led to his exit in November last year.
